CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO LISTEN TO NOT A WASTE!

PAOLAnotawaste.jpg

It is an eclectic work that touches on Urban Contemporary Soul and Electronic music while creating a sound uniquely its own.

The track stems from a craved desire to be free to originate : it is a conversation between the instinctive side of an artist and the half-sleep predator part which is ready to sabotage new inspirations. When a creative tries to follow some kind of illumination, he is going to fight with destructive voices that deflect the flow of the moment, which is often a onetime thing. The creating process happens always in different magnificent ways. For this reason it is never a waste of time.

Blackroom aims to destroy all types of boundaries : social, sexual and musical. It is about a woman who knows what she wants, she is not afraid of risking. The original track is an audacious multi-sensorial experience that wants to arouse different sensations in listeners: you can visualize yourself in this weightless little world while surrounded by abstract wallpapers. You can smell rough love, you can feel the freedom of saying those words out loud, smiling. As the constant changes in the song keep happening, as the ecstatic excitement grows. Sex and darkness, the most unconscious and ancestral entities, form an indissoluble and strong bond until the end. The protagonist of the song is happy to use a mirror as a window, so she can see her fantasies becoming concrete. “Just stay right there, I’ll be the man!”.

FREAK, IT HAS TO CHANGE

Freak2.jpg

It's my first EP completely self-produced •composition, production, mixing, mastering and art covers• Every track is born out of a particular state of mind, or better to say state-of-hormone. I tried hard to focus on my intuitions only and believe in this whole idea. Especially in quarantine time we are invisibly pushed to the extreme, for better or worse. After a short period in which I lost a bit the sense of my integrity, this project represents a reconnection with myself, who I am and my purpose in life.
With an eternal love for Soul, Funk, Blues and all the related sub-genres, when it comes to producing my tracks, an electronic component has an impact on the creation process. I started 'Freak, it has to change' in Brooklyn, a few days before my flight to Italy, my home-country. NY was still in a confused cloud of news, we were beginning to deal with the whole lockdown life vision. The second track 'Not be blind' stems from one of those songwriter moments, when you are sitting at the piano trying to concretise the melody that woke you up that morning. It is about harsh feelings such as disappointment in someone you love, unleashed rage, sadness, devalued feeling and cheating. 'You ashamed of me' navigates in the same boat of feelings passing through the disappointment in yourself and finally flowing into something brighter. If we are able to recognize the ignoble personality traits we are capable to show at times, we also have the power of being a better human. It is also true that I believe in a passionate, spontaneous and wild temperament and so those “extra” parts are actually pure unfiltered truth.

NOT BE BLIND

CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO LISTEN TO PURE!

Latest release of 2020 is the romantic electronic ballad Pure composed in 2018 in very small room in a Loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY. How is your face when you look at your loved one doing what he loves? This song is just about that, it is a eulogy for the loved one. When you are watching untiringly your lover doing what he loves, such as playing the piano, you can perceive all the love, the sacrifice and the pureness, the same pureness of the eyes of who is watching, appreciating and really feeling it.

Floating final cover art4.jpg

When a huge pandemic adds up to an ongoing social injustice, people start dealing deeply with who they are and they finally start paying attention to the world’s issues. In an abstract and implicit way, this song is just about that.

“Isn’t the skin I wanna wear” refers to someone ashamed of what his culture represents and stands for; it could be somebody who doesn’t feel his origins as his own or a person so tired of having a whole life affected by how he looks. Nevertheless there is a hope for a real change in our society, at least in these lyrics. “Distant from space and time, I’m moving, suspended in the air, don’t you dare, I’m aware, I’m floating yeah”: the protagonist goes in and out of an awareness aura, escaping in a personal fantasy space where she can erase all the bad.
